Jim Bennett
Jim is the worlds most energetic dev rel and a highly-experienced AI engineer. He’s British, so sounds way smarter than he actually is, and lives in the Pacific North West of the USA. In the past he’s lived in 4 continents working as a developer in the mobile, desktop, and scientific space. He's spoken at conferences and events all around the globe, organised meetup groups and communities, and written books on mobile development and IoT. He is currently a Microsoft MVP for AI and Developer Tools. He also hates and is allergic to cats, but has a 13-year-old who loves cats, so he has 2 cats.

Agent EvaluationLong-horizon agent benchmarks are fragmenting: a field guide to what each one actually measures
A field guide to the new wave of long-horizon agent benchmarks: what each one actually measures, the realism-versus-verifiability bargain it strikes, and the seam where its score leaks. Jim Bennett June 24, 2026 14 min read -
Agent ObservabilityProject Rosetta Stone: a reference implementation for instrumenting agents in any framework
We've fielded the same question at every conference this year. An engineer has chosen a framework, CrewAI one week, LangGraph the next, Mastra the week after, and wants… Jim Bennett June 22, 2026 6 min read -
Agent EngineeringTwo labs started dreaming, and they built two different architectures
Anthropic and OpenAI both shipped 'dreaming' for AI memory in May and June 2026, and they built opposite architectures. A look at what each lab shipped, what the… Jim Bennett June 17, 2026 11 min read -
Agent EngineeringMemory is still a missing primitive: Cataloguing what the field is actually shipping
This week the field shipped four kinds of memory, and Apple paid Google a billion dollars a year for one of them. None of the four is what… Jim Bennett June 12, 2026 14 min read -
Agent EngineeringMicrosoft’s open trust stack runs on OpenInference
Microsoft's open trust stack for AI agents puts ASSERT and Agent Control Specification on top of OpenInference, connecting evaluation, runtime controls, and observability through a shared trace contract. Jim Bennett June 3, 2026 6 min read -
Agent EngineeringBuilding a self-improving agent on a context graph of human disagreement
You can build a measurably better agent from data you already have, without retraining a thing. The data is what your experienced humans do when they correct the… Jim Bennett May 19, 2026 12 min read -
Agent EngineeringUsing context graphs: build a data moat like Google’s using your enterprise data
Enterprise software is on the verge of its first compounding data loop, the same kind of self-reinforcing mechanism that built the most valuable consumer businesses of the last… Jim Bennett Laurie Voss April 29, 2026 8 min read -
Agent EngineeringBuilding smarter AI agents: architecture, evals, and lessons from the field
Shipping an AI agent is easy. Understanding whether it actually works in production is not. That was the common thread across two AI Builders events in San Francisco… Jim Bennett April 14, 2026 10 min read
